Couples Normandy Trip
May 18- 24, 2019
MAY 18, SATURDAY | Meet in Paris. Eat lunch together and then depart Paris by private coach. Group visit to Giverny to visit Monet’s house and gardens. Drive into Lower Normandy and arrive to Chateau. Unpack, freshen up & explore property grounds before welcome dinner, prepared by a private chef. Optional watching of Band of Brothers in the chateau’s cinema to follow.
MAY 19, SUNDAY | Breakfast at hotel. Free morning for enjoy the beach. Lunch on your own. Afternoon Visit to Honfleur. Explore the unique cathedral, wander the harbour, buy salted caramels. Group dinner at the lovely, Ferme St. Simeon, featuring local ingredients in a gorgeous setting.
MAY 20, MONDAY | Tour of D-Day Beaches. Visit Utah Beach, stop in St. Mere Eglise for lunch (on your own) and an optional visit to the Paratroopers Museum. Drive to the dramatic La Pointe du Hoc. Go for an afternoon visit to the American Cemetery and Omaha Beach. Dinner at the chateau upon return.
MAY 21, TUESDAY | Free afternoon at beach. Optional trip to Caen War Museum, for those that are interested. Lunch on your own. Afternoon visit to Bayeux. Explore the town, shop, visit the cathedral, eat eclairs from the patisserie, see the famous Bayeux Tapestry. Group dinner over savoury crepes on a terrace of a watermill along the river in Bayeux.
MAY 22, WEDNESDAY | Eat breakfast at hotel. Depart for Mont St Michel. Stop in Villedieu-les-Pôeles for copper shopping and a group lunch at a tiny, but incredible Norman restaurant in the tiny town. Spend the afternoon visiting Mont St. Michel and exploring the ancient monastic fortress. Return to the chateau on the coach with local buttery cookies and movies to guide you back. A relaxed evening at the chateau for dinner, an evening swim or a movie in the cinema.
MAY 23, THURSDAY | Breakfast at the chateau. Relaxing day at the chateau where you can swim, wander the grounds, or book in a massage for a treatment on-site. In the afternoon, there will be an optional visit to a cider and cheese farm for a tasting. Enjoy one last final group meal prepared by the private chef.
MAY 24, FRIDAY | Breakfast at the chateau. Pack bags and load coach for Paris. Lunch along the way. Arrive back to Paris in the early afternoon, and all official group activities will end. (Though, the hope is that you can mingle in Paris, too, for a bit before you fly home!)
